Chairman’s Reserve was first blended in 1999, overseen by then Chairman, Laurie Barnard, as a special project to create a fine quality rum that represents the iconic style of St. Lucian rum.
Chairman’s Spiced begins with the original Chairman’s Reserve, created from selected aged rums of both Coffey stills and copper pot stills, married together after maturation and then re-entered into oak for blending. It is then steeped with “Bois Bandé”, a local wood said to have aphrodisiac qualities. Added to the rum are local spices and fruits such as cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, allspice, lemon and orange peel.
The Forgotten Casks is an extra aged sipping rum crafted to mimic rum found in the original forgotten casks of Chairman’s Reserve, which were preserved from St. Lucia Distillers’ horrific fire in 2007. Too old for the original Chairman’s Reserve blend, it was decided this rum would be released on its own, to worldwide acclaim. Nose: An intense nose of sweet raisin, cigar tobacco, amber honey and vanilla.
Palate: A warm palate offers grilled tropical fruit and candied walnuts rounded with soft spices.
